Played by: Birdie
Name: Anara Alfarsi, but most people call them Al
Age: It's questionable, but they heard about the Fall of Rome, so around 1,600 years old? Ros was turned when they were about 28-30, though they can't remember their exact age anymore.
Gender: Al uses they/them pronouns. If you're curious about their genitals, they gave birth to five children before being turned.
Race: Vampire
Sexual Orientation: Using today's vocabulary, they're pansexual polyamorous. Honestly, the LGBT movement did so much good for them.
Occupation: Professor, teaches Religions of the World
Likes
- Children - Al loves children. They remind them of the ones they gave birth to so long ago. Ros will honestly adopt every child they see, don't test them.
- Pomegranates - Pomegranate season is their favorite time of year, they honestly wait all year to enjoy the fruit fresh
- The Internet - The internet is the best invention ever, in their opinion. Like, the wheel was great, but the internet??? They're honestly not sure how they lived before being able to google "what do lemurs sound like?" They're also an admin on a conspiracy board that takes all of the portraits painted of them over the centuries and claims they're the same person (the members aren't wrong, but will they ever be able to definitively prove it? Not likely)
- Garlic Bread - The vampire council gets so annoyed with them, but like, shooting yourself up with epinephrine to give yourself time to enjoy the deliciousness that is garlic bread is so worth it. Even if they then have to be rushed to the hospital looking like a swollen mess.
- Modern Cameras & Film - So part of the reason vampires don't show up on film is due to the silver nitrate, but that is becoming increasingly less abundant with digital cameras, which means that Al is the worst selfie offender.
Dislikes
- Being treated like a walking history textbook - They get it, people like having a first hand account of certain historical events. But Al is not the vampire to ask for this. Being alive for 1,000+ years makes it difficult to keep track of who started what, or even what year something happened. And they spent 50 years in an opium den along the Silk Road, so maybe not the best source.
- Moody immortals - Al can only spend so long with these people. Yeah, being immortal has its downsides, and having to say goodbye to those you love sucks but like, get a dog. Buy a kayak. You're immortal, go free climb El Captain. *this is specifically calling out Dorian Gray*
- Automatic Sensors - You think not showing up on film is annoying? It took Al a full 5 years to realize why automatic doors and soap dispensers didn't work for them.
- The Vampire Council - Al and the council don't exactly see eye to eye. Not only does Al have an annoying habit of getting their portrait taken at least once a century (hey, at least they never consistently present themselves as one gender, making it more difficult to properly identify them) but they also like to keep tabs on their descendants. Which can be kinda problematic.
- Silver Mirrors - Okay, but who actually has a silver mirror anymore??? They hate it when they find antique mirrors. Al got used to finally being able to see their reflection after centuries, just let them be vain.
